Hi All, just got back from Auckland from the final of the 2010 New Zealand Supercross champs where we came home with an awesome result. I'm now the proud holder of the #3 plate in the Junior Lites class.
Last weekend was round 3 at Tokoroa and the track was awesome. The rain threatened throughout the night with light showers but held out making the track real slick. The racing was very close. Race one I had a little excitement when I launched off a stepon with the bike kicking out to the right, landing half off the table. A couple of haybales and the spotlight caught me and I quickly pulled the bike back up on the track dropping from 2nd to 5th. I was quickly back into 4th, then on the last corner slipped up the inside to take 3rd. The final two races went uneventful with another two 3rd's and putting me a comfy third in the series, 21 points behind Haki in 2nd.
Last Friday we arrived in Manakau at 5pm and went straight to the track to check it out, and what an awesome track it was. Very simular to America. Saturday arvo and I qualified 3rd. 5pm and racing got underway, I only had to finish 3rd or ahead of Brayden Stephens in race one to secure third in the championship. 1st place was 42 points ahead, so pretty much out of reach. However it was also my goal to take the round win if I could. Well race one got underway and out of the first corner I jumped over the kicker into the back of Haki Waller sending me to the ground, not a good start. Remounted at the back of the pack and pushed hard quickly climbing into 4th. Third lap and I past Brayden midlap then missed a gear approaching a big triple, so only doubled it. Brayden went for it but came up short and lost control veering across the track taking us both out. Then I dropped the bike coming out of the sand section dropping back to 5th again but managed to climb back to 4th by the finish. Thankfully I had no dramas in the remaining two races to finish third in each for 3rd on the night and take the 3NZ plate.
My new Bud Racing fork inserts, supplied by Budracing France and Neil at Budracing NZ, have certainly made a big improvement to the handling of the bike. Thanks to Dean Strauchan for installing them and revalving my rear shock, can't wait fir NZGP at Woodville this weekend. Thanks also to Bushriders Mcc for helping me with my entry fee's for the supercross series.
