I recently had new rings, piston, bearings, first gear, gearbox bearings, gearlever fitted on my SX 250.

When it was returned it really lacked power and just didn't have grunt. after a lot of investigation, checking the powervalve, reeds, plug, mixture etc.

A few weeks prior, i had considered buying a new ktm from them, the guy I dealt with seemed like a nice guy at the time (dont they all when your thinking of buying a 10000$ or more motorbike)

anyway a few weeks went on and i had pinpointed the problem being the powervalve not opening, the acutator mechanism was real stiff. one day i decided to strip the right side of the engine to see if i could see what is going on, the first cover i pulled off housed the powervalve spring, which when i released it it popped out 2 inches or so, and i was like, thats not right, when having a look at the metal inserts on either end of the spring i noticed one end had a dimple and the other a slot, upon inserting my finger into the hole i found that the idiots had put the spring in backwards.

i put the spring in the correct way and the bike went like the ex works shayne king bike it was meant to be . I thought to myself, now the guy seemed like a pretty good dude, so I called him to let him know one of his mechanics had made a mistake (instead of telling 10 people at the track) the manager was like "i dont want to argue with you, but we never touched that" (they had to have to be able to get the barrel off) I said, look i dont want to argue either, im just letting you know cause you seem like a good dude. He still failed to admit that they might have made a mistake and so I would like to share my experience with everyone else, warning them about the attitudes of this particular KTM dealer in Takanini.

Peace out

Dear mattyc

I know you must be absolutely pissed about attitudes of "that dealer", but as my name is all over this site (and I want it to stay up and running) I had to cover my [censored] a touch by taking off "that dealers" name . I do hope you understand ... I don't want to go meet these guys in court

So if anyone wants to know who this slacker KTM Dealer is in Takanini ... drop mattyc and e-mail and I'm sure he'll share their details.

By the way, for KTM stuff ... try AFC (http://www.afc.co.nz) down this way in Palmy ... they're Tru DUDES!
